Costa da Lagoa is a settlement on the western shore of Lagoa da Conceição. Because of the terrain, there is no car access: you arrive by boat across the lagoon or on foot along old paths. Wikipedia notes that the path to the Freguesia da Lagoa is about 5 km long, with bridges, steps and ramps built by the old residents.
How to get there
- By boat: passenger boats leave from the Centrinho da Lagoa area and stop at several jetties along Costa da Lagoa. Timetables and fares change with the season: check when you board.
- On foot: the Costa da Lagoa path is a traditional trail along the water, with some ups and downs. Many people walk there and return by boat.
What to do
- Lunch by the water: Costa da Lagoa is known for seafood restaurants with their own jetties.
- Waterfall: a small waterfall can be reached by trail from one of the jetties.
- Local life: old houses, canoes and the daily life of a community that still depends on the lagoon.
