The east of the island is the region of open sea, dunes and surfing, a few minutes from Lagoa da Conceição. It is home to some of the most famous beaches in Florianópolis.
The beaches
- Joaquina: world-class surfing and sandboarding on the dunes.
- Praia Mole: scenery framed by hills, surfing and paragliding.
- Galheta: a beach with no buildings, reached only by trail.
- Barra da Lagoa: a fishing village on the Lagoa channel.
- Moçambique: the island’s longest beach, almost deserted.
Beyond the beach
- Projeto TAMAR: a visitor center about sea turtles.
- Costa da Lagoa: by boat or on foot along the lagoon shore.
