Is Florianópolis on an island? Most of the municipality is on Santa Catarina Island; part of it is on the mainland. See how to get here.
Why “Floripa” and “Island of Magic”? Floripa is the city’s affectionate nickname. Island of Magic (Ilha da Magia) comes from the stories of witches and fantastic beings recorded by the researcher Franklin Cascaes.
When is the best time to go? Summer (December to March in Brazil) has warmer water and big crowds; March, April, October and November tend to be quieter. See when to go.

Where should I stay? It depends on your style: the North for calm water and facilities, the Lagoa to be in the middle of everything, the South for nature. See where to stay.
