Matadeiro lies between Armação and Lagoinha do Leste. It is separated from Armação by a brackish river flowing from Lagoa do Peri, and access is on foot only: about 200 meters after crossing the river, according to Wikipedia.
The name
It dates from the whaling era: according to the tradition recorded by Wikipedia, fishermen set up their station at Armação and killed the whales at Matadeiro (“the slaughter place”).
Who it suits
